The day before yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a concert by my great Russian friend and incomparable musician, the harpist Alexander Boldachev. The hall was full, the concert was masterful, but the big surprise came during the autograph session when I realized that he hadn’t understood that the piece I had composed for solo harp and sent to him, titled ‘Volo Pacem,’ was dedicated to him! The photo shows his astonishment. I don’t hold it against him because he spends his life on planes and on every continent… We had a good laugh!
おととい、素晴らしいロシアの友人でもある、天才ハーピスト アレクサンダー・ボルダチョフのコンサートに行ってきました。銀座のホールは満員、演奏も相変わらず言うことナシにずば抜けて素晴らしかったのですが、予想の斜め上を行く驚愕の事実が、コンサート後、彼と談笑している時に待ちうけていました。
実は少し前に、彼のためにソロハープの小品『Volo Pacem』を書いて、送っていたんです。ところが、まさかそれが自分に捧げられている曲だと本人がまったくわかっていなかったと言う。（スコアにも書いてあったのになあ。笑。）
彼がその事実を知った瞬間の「えーーーー！！！ごめーーーーーん！！！分かってなかった、恥ずかしい！！！！」というあらゆる複雑な感情が瞬時に過った表情が、この一枚。
いやあ、私もびっくりしましたが、全く気にしていません。演奏旅行であちこちの大陸を飛び回る彼なので、そんな事くらい許しますよ。とりあえず、ふたりで大爆笑しました！
Avant-hier, j’ai eu le plaisir d’assister à un concert de mon grand ami et incomparable musicien, le harpiste Russe Alexander Boldachev. La salle était pleine, le concert magistral, mais la grande surprise a été, au moment des autographes, de constater qu’il n’avait pas compris que la pièce que j’avais composée pour harpe solo et que je lui avais envoyée, intitulée ‘Volo Pacem’, lui était dédicacée ! La photo montre son étonnement. Je ne lui en veux pas, car il passe sa vie dans les avions et sur tous les continents… On a bien rigolé !
